Governor Kefas Sets Deadline for Taraba APC Consensus Candidates

Governor Kefas of Taraba State has directed leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to produce consensus candidates for various electoral positions within five days. This directive was issued during a stakeholders' meeting held at the Ty Danjuma House in Jalingo, aimed at preparing for the 2027 elections.

Governor Kefas stressed the importance of unity within the party to avoid internal conflicts that could weaken its strength. He highlighted the need for long-standing party members and new entrants to work together for the party's success.

The meeting included key figures such as Uba Maigari, former Governor Garba Umar, and 16 local government council chairmen. The chairman of APC Taraba State, Alhaji Bawa, assured that the selection process for candidates would be transparent and fair, adhering to party guidelines.

If consensus candidates cannot be agreed upon, direct primaries will be held. Governor Kefas cautioned politicians against treating politics as a personal affair, emphasizing the need for humility and responsibility in leadership.
