Niger Governor Bago to Address APC Defections Ahead of 2027

Niger State Governor Moham Umaru Bago announced his commitment to follow President Bola Tinubu's approach in addressing the recent defections from the All Progressives Congress (APC). This statement came after a significant number of former political appointees, including ex-Chief of Staff Alhaji Maikil Bmitosahi, defected from the APC, citing dissatisfaction with the outcomes of the party's primary elections.

During a stakeholders' meeting in Minna, Bago urged aggrieved members to set aside their grievances and continue supporting the APC as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections. He emphasized the importance of unity within the party and warned against public attacks on the administration.

Bago also mentioned that he possesses files detailing alleged misconduct by former political appointees who chose not to act in the interest of peace. The meeting included various aspirants who expressed their commitment to work towards the party's success in the upcoming elections.
