Plateau Group Urges Government to Release White Paper

A group, represented by Nanmak Bali of the DPP, has called on the Plateau State government to release a white paper concerning violent attacks that have led to significant loss of life and property in various communities, particularly in Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas. This appeal was made through a communiqué issued at the end of a roundtable discussion held on Sunday, which highlighted the resurgence of violence in the state.

The group expressed concern over the fear experienced by rural residents due to the ongoing attacks and emphasized the need for preventive measures against future occurrences. They urged the government to implement the proposed white paper, which aims to address the root causes of violence and promote non-kinetic approaches to conflict resolution.

Additionally, the group recommended engaging regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and to create digital platforms that tell community stories, thereby fostering a sense of security and community resilience.
