Abuja Group Demands Review of Land Dispute Involving Elderly Woman

The Abuja Vigilance Forum (AVF), a civil society organization, has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to conduct an independent review of a property dispute involving 80-year-old Rebecca Omokamo Godwin-Isaac in Guzape, Abuja. In a statement issued on Saturday and signed by AVF chairman Ephraim Madaki and Secretary Comrade Bob Destiny, the group highlighted that the property at Plot 4022, Guzape, is currently under legal proceedings.

Rebecca is said to have acquired the property for ₦110 million and invested additional funds to construct a house where she resides with her family. The AVF raised concerns regarding the forfeiture proceedings linked to the property and questioned the legitimacy of competing ownership claims.

They specifically noted that Rebecca is being prosecuted by the EFCC despite being presented as a victim in the alleged transaction. The group called for a thorough examination of the ownership claims and urged that the judicial process be allowed to resolve the matter fairly and transparently.
