Chief Albert Horsfall's Legacy Remembered in Niger Delta

Chief Albert Horsfall, the pioneer Executive Chairman of the Oil Minerals Producing Areas Development Commission (OMPADEC), passed away, prompting Dr Emmanuel Audu-Ohwavborua, former Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), to express condolences. Audu-Ohwavborua described Horsfall as a patriot who played a crucial role in developing the oil-producing Niger Delta.

He noted that September 24, 2026, would be a day of remembrance for Horsfall, whose leadership at OMPADEC laid the groundwork for the NDDC. Audu-Ohwavborua praised the NDDC Board and Management for honoring Horsfall's legacy by signing a condolence register at the commission's headquarters in Port Harcourt, which Horsfall had laid the foundation stone for in 1995.

The project was revived in 2017 under the leadership of Obong Nsima Ekere, reaching practical completion in 2019. Additionally, Audu-Ohwavborua acknowledged Horsfall's contributions to Nigeria's security and intelligence, including his roles as the pioneer Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the second Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS).
