Tani Olohun Defends Yoruba Kings Amid Police Confrontation

Abdulazeez Adegbola, known as Tani Olohun, addressed an alleged attempt by police to arrest him in Ibadan, Oyo State, stating he was defending Yoruba traditional rulers from insults. In a video message, he clarified that Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, arrived at the scene after residents had confronted the police for about 30 minutes.

Tani Olohun claimed that the police did not allow him to speak during the arrest attempt and that he was assaulted, prompting community members to intervene. He alleged that the police action was linked to his defense of prominent Yoruba monarchs, including the Ooni of Ife, Olubadan, and Oluwo, who he said had been insulted.

Tani Olohun urged traditional rulers to take these attacks seriously and expressed gratitude to those who supported him. He also mentioned that Igboho contacted the police commissioners in Oyo and Kwara states regarding the incident, with the Oyo Commissioner stating he was unaware of the operation.
