Seyi Makinde Promises Power Transfer to Vice President

Seyi Makinde, the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), made a commitment to transmit power to the Vice President whenever he is unavailable, such as during vacations, if elected in 2027. This pledge was made on Tuesday during the APM North-West town meeting held in Katsina.

Makinde referenced Section 145 of the Constitution, which mandates that the President must transmit a written declaration to the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives when unable to perform presidential duties. He questioned why this procedure should not be applied at the national level, noting his own practice of transmitting power to his deputy during extended absences.

Additionally, Makinde outlined his proposed Reset Agenda, which aims to revitalize the economy through intensive production and continuous operation. He also addressed education, promising to establish reliable data on out-of-school children and develop measures to reintegrate them into the educational system.
