ICPC Exonerates Gbajabiamila in Fake Agency Investigation

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has cleared Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, of any involvement in the appointment of Adeniyi Adeyemi as head of the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC). Following a directive from President Tinubu, the ICPC investigated the PFIPC and submitted an interim report on August 6, which was obtained on August 25.

The report concluded that Adeyemi was not appointed by the Federal Government and that the PFIPC lacked legal foundation. Investigators found that Adeyemi produced a fake appointment letter dated March 2024 using a State House letterhead, which bore a signature purportedly belonging to Gbajabiamila.

However, there was no record of Gbajabiamila appointing Adeyemi or any communication between them regarding the PFIPC. The ICPC also noted discrepancies in the documents used by Adeyemi and confirmed that no State House employee named Akanbi Adewale held the claimed position during the review period.
