Lagos Lawmaker Osafil Stella Defects to Labour Party

Osafil Stella, the only opposition lawmaker in the Lagos State House of Assembly, disclosed that she is facing ridicule for not joining the All Progressives Congress (APC). In an interview during a plenary session on Monday, she revealed her decision to defect from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Labour Party.

Stella acknowledged the persistent taunts and emphasized the need to develop a thick skin to navigate the stresses of political life. When asked about the ADC's guarantee of a return ticket for the next election, she stated that political decisions are driven by the wishes of her constituents.

Stella also highlighted that the ADC has an established structure to encourage constituents to engage with the party. She addressed the role of religion in governance, asserting that Nigeria operates as a secular state.

Additionally, she dismissed claims of discrimination within the assembly, asserting that Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa remains impartial in his duties.
