Indians Win Big at 9th Lagos International Badminton Classics

At the 9th Lagos International Badminton Classics, Indian players dominated by winning three of the five available titles. Tankara Talasila secured the men’s singles title by defeating his compatriot Hmar Laithazuala.

The women’s doubles title was claimed by the Panda sisters, Rutaparna and Swetaparna, who triumphed over Kwripriya Selvam and Simpran Singhi. In mixed doubles, Dhuv Ramat and Katie Maneesha emerged victorious against Sathwik Kanapuram and Radhike Sharma.

In the women’s singles, Prakriti Bharath from the United Arab Emirates defeated Petra Maixnerova of Czechia, while Thailand’s Thanawin Madee and Madee Pongsakom won the men’s doubles against UAE’s Bharath Latheesh and Dev Vishnu. Lekan Abdul, a board member of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, commended the Lagos state government for its support in hosting the tournament.

Talasila expressed his happiness about winning in Nigeria, highlighting the challenge of competing against a friend. Dignitaries present included Lekan Fatodu and Nunayon Travih.
