166 Players Compete in 9th Lagos International Badminton

The 9th Lagos International Badminton Classics began on August 29 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Institute for Sports, National Stadium, Lagos. A total of 166 players from 27 countries are competing in this tournament.

Francis Orbih, President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, stated that Nigeria is fully prepared to host the event and expressed encouragement regarding the interest from participating countries. He highlighted the tournament's total prize purse of US$20,000, emphasizing its significance on the international badminton calendar.

Orbih noted that this prize money is intended to motivate players to perform at their best. He also acknowledged the crucial support from Phillip Shuaibu, the Director General of the National Institute for Sports, and his management team for providing the venue.

The federation is committed to organizing a well-structured championship to enhance Nigeria's reputation as a host for major international badminton events.
