INEC Begins Screening Of Applications For New Party Registration As Requests Hit 151

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has started screening applications for new party registration, with 151 requests received so far. The commission's National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, revealed that successful associations will be shortlisted by August 16.

Since the last update on July 23, eight letters of intent from associations seeking party registration have been received. The screening process will continue, with details of the shortlisted associations to be released on August 16.

Additionally, Olumekun announced the resumption of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration on August 18, with 811 registration centers set up across the country. INEC will deploy an online CVR Live Locator to help citizens find their nearest registration center, which will go live on August 17.

Detailed information on the registration process, including a video clip, will be released next week.
