Sani Urges Troops to Eliminate Bandits in Nigeria

Ibrahim Mahmood Sani, a public affairs analyst and civil society advocate, called on Nigerian troops to ensure the elimination of all bandits operating in Northern Nigeria. His appeal was made in a statement issued on Wednesday, amid rising insecurity in several parts of the region.

This remark followed a recent operational visit to Zamfara State by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, who directed troops to decisively react to the security developments. Sani expressed support for the military's renewed determination to confront insecurity and urged Nigerians to rally behind and encourage the armed forces in their fight against what he described as a common enemy.

He stressed that the persistent killings and atrocities committed by bandits can no longer be tolerated. Sani commended the Chief of Defence Staff for showing leadership and interacting directly with troops in Zamfara, sending a strong message that the fight against banditry requires sustained commitment and prioritization of troop welfare.
