Fulani Group Urges Herders to Enhance Security Cooperation

The Concerned Fulani People of Nigeria (CFPN) has called on Fulani pastoralists in South-West Nigeria to strengthen their security cooperation with local communities to tackle criminal activities in the region. This appeal was made in a statement issued on Tuesday in Kaduna by Ibrahim Chubado, who responded to recent security concerns, particularly in Oyo State.

Chubado highlighted the need for pastoralists to continue their legitimate livestock business while supporting government efforts to provide credible information that can expose criminal elements operating within rural grazing areas. He noted that security challenges in the South-West should not lead to the stigmatization of the Fulani community.

Chubado welcomed remarks from Yoruba self-determination advocate Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, which he described as a positive development for peace and coexistence. He reiterated the commitment of Fulani pastoralists to collaborate with security agencies and traditional institutions to ensure the safety of their communities and to address issues such as cattle rustling and violent attacks.
