JAMB Adjusts UTME Start Time in Jos for Candidate Safety

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a change in the start time for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Jos, Plateau State, moving it from the original 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM. This adjustment is in response to a curfew imposed in the area, ensuring that candidates do not have to leave their homes during curfew hours.

JAMB spokesperson Benjamin Fabian disclosed this information during a press briefing at the board's headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday. The examination is scheduled to run from April 16 to April 25.

The decision followed a stakeholders' meeting in Jos that included the police, security agencies, and religious leaders to address tensions and ensure a peaceful examination process. The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed rumors regarding threats to candidates' safety, assuring the public of robust security arrangements nationwide, including the deployment of additional personnel and rapid response teams at examination centers.
