IPAC Condemns Vote Buying Ahead of Osun Guber Election

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), the umbrella body for registered political parties in Nigeria, has rejected vote buying and other forms of electoral inducement ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15. During a General Assembly meeting in Abuja, IPAC's National Chairman, Dr.

Yusuf M. Dantalle, warned political parties and candidates against attempting to purchase the electorate's mandate.

He expressed concerns over the political atmosphere in Osun, highlighting issues such as insecurity, violence, and the alleged use of state institutions to suppress political opponents. Dantalle insisted that the election must reflect the freely expressed will of the people, free from intimidation or coercion.

He called for all political entities to compete based on ideas and vision rather than financial inducements. IPAC also urged political leaders to de-escalate tensions and ensure that ordinary citizens are not adversely affected by political conflicts.
