IPAC Calls for Credible Osun Governorship Election

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure a free, fair, and credible governorship election in Osun State, scheduled for Saturday. During a press conference in Abuja following its General Assembly meeting, IPAC's National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, expressed concerns about rising political tensions in the state.

He emphasized that the election should be a genuine contest of ideas and warned against any attempts to impose individual or institutional will over the electorate. Dantalle urged INEC to conduct the election with professionalism, independence, and transparency, adhering strictly to the Constitution and the Electoral Act 2026.

He also highlighted the importance of treating all political parties equally and addressing complaints promptly. Regarding security, Dantalle insisted that personnel must operate within their constitutional mandates and protect all electoral participants without discrimination.

He condemned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's freezing of Osun State Government accounts, labeling it as politically motivated.
