Amaechi Calls for APC Removal During Abuja Protest

On Wednesday, Rotimi Amaechi, a prominent chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made a statement during a protest in Abuja, asserting that it is time to force the All Progressives Congress (APC) out of office. He emphasized the need to unseat the APC, which has been in power since 2015, and warned that the party is damaging Nigeria's democracy.

Amaechi criticized the APC for its alleged fear of losing future elections and expressed concerns regarding the appointment of Joash Amupitan as the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), suggesting that this move is intended to weaken opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections. The protest featured notable figures, including former presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, as well as former Senate President David Mark and former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, all of whom voiced their opposition to the current administration.
