Oyo Govt Criticizes FG Over Makinde's Exclusion

The Oyo State government expressed discontent over Governor Seyi Makinde's exclusion from the flag-off ceremony for the dualisation of the Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode Road, which took place on Monday at Idi Ayunre. The event was attended by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Minister of Works Dave Umahi, APC governorship candidate Sarafadeen Alli, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.

Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, stated that the exclusion of Makinde appeared politically motivated, particularly in light of the upcoming 2027 elections. He criticized the rationale that Makinde was not invited due to being on leave, arguing that the presence of an Acting Governor ensured adequate representation for the state.

Oyelade lamented that the event, which should have focused on a significant infrastructure project, devolved into a "political jamboree." He affirmed that the Oyo State administration would remain focused on its responsibilities, emphasizing that the people of Oyo State are the ultimate stakeholders in the political landscape.
