Bandits Attack Burial Ceremony in Kaduna, Two Killed

On Wednesday, armed men attacked a burial ceremony in Angwar Magaji, located in Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State, resulting in the deaths of two mourners and injuries to three others. The attack occurred in the early hours, as armed individuals stormed the community during the mourning gathering, opening fire on attendees who had come to pay their last respects to a deceased community member.

The atmosphere quickly turned chaotic, prompting people to flee in various directions for safety. Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed that the attackers arrived in large numbers and fled the scene shortly after the assault.

Calm was reportedly restored after military personnel were deployed following a distress call from the community. The troops arrived after the attackers had escaped, and efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators and disrupt their movements across surrounding areas.

Residents expressed shock at the violent disruption of a traditional mourning ceremony, calling for increased military presence to improve security in rural settlements that have been repeatedly attacked.
