Shettima Promotes Peace Through Sports in Kaduna Central

Yerima Usman Shettima, an APC aspirant for the Kaduna Central senatorial district, has intensified calls for peace and unity through sports as the 2027 elections approach. He made this appeal during the opening ceremony of the "Peace and Unity Football Tournament," organized in Kaduna to foster harmony among communities and strengthen youth participation in positive activities.

The tournament, named the "Yerima Shettima Unity Cup," commenced with a match at Ikhanna Academy in Rigasa, Kaduna. Shettima emphasized that football serves as an effective platform to bridge ethnic, religious, and social divides, allowing young people to share space in healthy competition.

He noted that the tournament would also serve as a talent discovery platform, promising to become an annual event aimed at empowering youth and promoting peace in the region. The tournament features 16 teams from various communities across seven local government areas in Kaduna Central, with Shettima calling for deliberate efforts to restore values of unity and coexistence.
