Shettima Launches Peace Football Tournament in Kaduna

Yerima Usman Shettima, an aspirant for the Kaduna Central senatorial district under the APC, sponsored a peace and unity football tournament in Kaduna. The tournament, named the "Yerima Shettima Unity Cup," aims to promote harmony among communities and strengthen youth participation in positive activities.

It kicked off with an opening match at Ikhanna Academy in Rigasa, Kaduna, and involved 16 teams drawn from seven local government areas within the Kaduna Central senatorial district. Shettima emphasized the importance of football as a platform to bridge ethnic, religious, and social divides, offering young people a space for healthy competition.

He pledged that the tournament would serve as a talent discovery platform and promised to make it an annual event. Shettima also stressed the need for sustained efforts to promote peace and reduce social tension in the region, noting that today's youth do not experience the same level of unity and coexistence as in the past.
