Kaduna Workers Demand Unpaid 30% Salary from Governor

Workers from Kaduna state-owned tertiary institutions, represented by the Joint Unions of Tertiary Institutions of Kaduna State (JUTIKS), have called on Governor Uba Sani to honor his commitment to implement the remaining 30% of the CONPCASS/CONTEDISS salary structure and other allowances. This demand was made on Wednesday following a meeting at Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic in Zaria, attended by representatives from four institutions, including Kaduna State College of Education, Kaduna State College of Nursing Sciences, and Shehu Idris College of Health Sciences.

JUTIKS Chairman Usman Suleiman acknowledged the governor's implementation of 70% of the salary structure in October 2025 but expressed disappointment that the promised balance had not been paid. The state government had previously committed to fulfilling this 30% by the first quarter of 2026, a deadline that has now passed.

Additionally, the unions requested the extension of earlier Federal Government wage allowances to eligible workers and an official circular allowing non-teaching staff to retire at 65 years or after 40 years of service.
