163 Woro Abduction Victims Rescued, Arrive in Ilorin

On August 5, 2026, 163 victims who were abducted during a February 3, 2026 attack on Woro community in Kaiama local government area of Kwara State were rescued by security forces after spending six months in captivity. The victims arrived late Thursday night at the Nigerian Army’s 2 Division, Sobi Barracks in Ilorin, Kwara State, before being moved to an undisclosed location for the night.

The abduction occurred when armed bandits invaded the community, resulting in the deaths of several residents and the kidnapping of many others. Following sustained military operations and coordinated efforts by security agencies, the victims regained their freedom and were transported from Niger State to Ilorin.

They are expected to be officially handed over to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. This event marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to secure the release of abducted individuals in the region.
