Kaiama Community Seeks Aid for Woro Attack Victims

The Kaiama community in Kwara State has called for ongoing government support to rehabilitate and reintegrate victims of the February 3 attack on Woro community, where 176 individuals were initially abducted. Dr Yakub Umar Jaja, Vice President of the Kaiama Development Association, expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and security agencies for securing the release of 163 abductees after approximately six months in captivity.

The victims are currently receiving medical attention at various facilities, including the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital, with some accommodated at Sobi Barracks. Jaja reported that while some victims are stable, others require intensive care.

He revealed that 11 children were born during captivity, with six fatalities. Allegations include forced relationships and the involvement of older abductees in criminal activities.

Jaja welcomed the Nigerian Government's approval for a military base in Kaiama and urged for a coordinated rehabilitation program involving multiple stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support for the victims.
