Islamic Cleric Alhaji Maibarga Dies in Bandits' Captivity

Alhaji Muhammad Maibarga, an Islamic cleric, has died in the captivity of bandits in Kebbi State, as confirmed by the Kebbi State Police Command. The police spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, reported that efforts are ongoing to verify the situation and continue rescue operations for other victims.

Maibarga's health reportedly deteriorated during his captivity, leading to his death. The cleric was kidnapped alongside a former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Koko Besse Local Government Area.

A video surfaced online showing two elderly men pleading for help from their captors, highlighting the harsh treatment they faced. The community and family members have called for intensified efforts from government authorities to secure the release of the captives.

Maibarga's funeral prayer, Salatul Ghaib, was observed in his absence, as his body has not yet been recovered. The ongoing issue of bandit attacks and kidnappings remains a significant concern in Nigeria.
