Kogi State Implements Automated Ticketing for Revenue Collection

The Kogi state government has officially banned cash collection and roadside roadblocks for revenue generation, introducing a new automated daily ticketing framework. This announcement was made by Dr. Sule Salihu Enehe, the Chairman of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS), during a stakeholders’ engagement held at KGIRS headquarters in Lokoja.

The engagement aimed to introduce a new consultant to stakeholders and clarify the collection process, rates, and responsibilities. Dr. Enehe noted that approximately two years prior, the state had prohibited transport unions from collecting revenue on roads.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has advocated for a peaceful, inclusive, and transparent revenue administration approach. Instead of excluding unions from the revenue system, the government decided to share a percentage of legitimate revenue with them to support their operations.

Following the expiration of the previous consultant's contract, a competitive bidding process was conducted, resulting in Solution Network Consults being selected as the successful bidder.
