Kwara APC Primary: Concerns Over Danladi's Candidacy

Abdulmaje Abdullahi, the convener of the Legacy 2027 group, expressed concerns about the conduct of the APC governorship primary in Kwara State, questioning the legitimacy of Yakubu Danladi's emergence as the party's candidate. During an appearance on Arise Television's breakfast program, Abdullahi highlighted the dissatisfaction among APC members regarding the primary process, which he described as a departure from democratic principles.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq had earlier endorsed Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki Gambari, who was noted for his philanthropic work and had garnered significant support. However, the primary election, scheduled for May 21, was postponed to May 22 due to logistical issues.

Following the election, Senator Obanikoro led the primary committee that declared Danladi the winner, a result that triggered disappointment among stakeholders. Abdullahi emphasized the importance of ensuring that the people's mandate is not undermined, reflecting ongoing tensions within the Kwara APC following the controversial primary exercise.
