163 Kidnapped Victims Rescued in Kwara State Attack

On August 5, 2026, security forces rescued 163 victims who had been abducted during an attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State, on February 3, 2026. The victims arrived in Ilorin, the state capital, late Thursday night after spending six months in captivity.

They were received at the Nigerian Army’s 2 Division, Sobi Barracks, and subsequently moved to an undisclosed location for the night. The abduction occurred when armed bandits invaded the community, resulting in the deaths of several residents and the kidnapping of many others.

Following sustained military operations and coordinated efforts by security agencies, the victims regained their freedom and were transported from Niger State to Ilorin. They are expected to be officially handed over to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

This event marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to secure the release of abductees, with authorities continuing to verify the number of those rescued and provide necessary care and support.
