Kwara Community Welcomes New Army Battalion in Omu-Aran

On Tuesday, traditional rulers, local government officials, and residents of Irepodun Local Government Area in Kwara State welcomed the establishment of a new Army battalion in Omu-Aran. They expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for this initiative, which is expected to enhance security in Kwara South and the state overall.

The Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba AbdulRaheem Adeoti, assured the battalion, commanded by Lt.-Col. Kehinde Avoseh, of full support regarding their welfare.

He emphasized the community's commitment to peace and progress. The Executive Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Abdulazeez Yakub, also pledged the council's cooperation with the Nigerian Army.

Community leader and retired General Lasisi Abidoye acknowledged the efforts of both the President and the Governor. Brig.

Gen. Nicholas Rume, Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, thanked the residents for their warm reception and noted that the deployment aligns with the Federal Government's directive to enhance the Army's operational capacity.
