Kwara Orphanage Association Disavows Unregistered Home

The Association of Orphanages and Home Operators in Nigeria (ASOHON), Kwara State chapter, has publicly distanced itself from the Iranlowo Oluwa Orphanage and Children’s Home, an unapproved facility in Ilorin where 30 children were rescued. ASOHON's statement, signed by Chairman Omolehin Christie and Secretary Ayub AbdulGaniy, clarified that the orphanage is not a registered member of their organization and does not comply with state regulations.

This announcement followed the intervention by the Kwara State Ministry of Social Development, which rescued the children aged between two and 15. ASOHON commended Commissioner Mariam Nnfatima Imam and her team for their swift action in protecting vulnerable children.

The state government has begun assessing and rehabilitating the rescued children, who are now in a government-approved shelter receiving medical care and support. The Commissioner emphasized the importance of tracing the children's families and ensuring their welfare, with plans for long-term care if reunification is not possible.
