Lagos State Arrests 27 for Bridge Vandalism Incident

The Lagos State Government has arrested 27 suspected hoodlums for allegedly vandalizing a newly constructed bridge that connects Festac Town to Alakija. This operation occurred during a midnight enforcement initiative, as disclosed by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a statement on Friday.

The vandalism involved the removal of essential components such as iron rods, steel reinforcements, and cables, which are critical to the bridge's structural integrity. Wahab described this act as a "disturbing act of vandalism" that poses a significant threat to public safety and undermines government investments in infrastructure.

The arrests were made during a joint operation involving the Rapid Response Squad and the Kick Against Indiscipline task force. Wahab affirmed that the suspects would be prosecuted under Lagos State laws and reiterated the government's commitment to protecting public assets and continuing enforcement operations against vandalism and other criminal activities.
