Lagos First Lady Opens 22nd Akwaaba, Celebrates Jollof Rice

On [date not specified], Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the First Lady of Lagos State, officially opened the 22nd Akwaaba African Travel Market at Eko Hotels, Victoria Island. During the event, she praised Nigerian Jollof Rice as the best in Africa, participating in a tasting session with 15 chefs, including three young chefs she trained through the Lagos Boy Child Initiative.

The event was attended by representatives from Enugu and Akwa Ibom states, including Dr. Peter Mbah and Pastor Umo Eno, as well as Abdoulie Jobe, the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of The Gambia. Dr. Sanwo-Olu commended Ikechi Uko and his wife, Rita, for their efforts in promoting African tourism.

She highlighted Akwaaba as a significant platform for cultural exchange and tourism, stating that it showcases Lagos's potential as a destination for business and leisure. She encouraged young people to acquire culinary skills, reflecting on her own experience teaching her sons to cook Jollof Rice.
