Lagos Police Face Complex Challenges, Says DIG Fayoade

During an official visit to the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Adegoke Fayoade characterized Lagos as Nigeria's most complex policing environment, citing its estimated population of 20 million and the constant evolution of security challenges. He praised the Lagos State Police Command for its operational effectiveness despite ongoing threats such as armed robbery and cult-related violence.

Fayoade emphasized the importance of collaboration among security agencies and the need for improved intelligence gathering and community engagement. He acknowledged the support from the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) for police logistics and welfare.

Fayoade also discussed the recruitment of 40,000 policemen to address manpower shortages and highlighted the Nigerian Police Force's investment in technology and data management systems to enhance crime detection. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Police Force to safeguarding lives and property while addressing the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
