Lagos Orders School Compliance Checks Before Resumption

The Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has directed immediate compliance checks in schools across the state in preparation for the academic term resuming on May 4, 2026. Jamiu Alli Balogun, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, issued this directive, emphasizing the need for schools to meet safety regulations and maintain a conducive learning environment.

An inspection team will be deployed statewide to assess adherence to required standards, including the condition of school environments, availability of learning facilities, and punctuality of student and staff attendance. School administrators have been advised to maintain proper records to sustain teaching and learning activities from the first day of resumption to avoid unnecessary delays in academic work.

Abisola Dokunmu Adegbit, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, reiterated the government's commitment to upholding standards across the education sector, stressing that compliance with safety and sanitation protocols remains a key priority.
