Lagos State to Boost Electricity with 132kV Line

The Lagos State government has announced plans to construct a 132kV transmission line to improve electricity supply in the Lekki, Epe, and Ajah areas. Abdulhafeez Toriola, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, disclosed this during a stakeholder engagement meeting held on Tuesday at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium in Ikeja.

The initiative aims to address the ongoing issues of erratic power supply and support the full development of the Lekki-Epe-Ajah area. Toriola emphasized the importance of stakeholder feedback to tackle potential challenges, including land acquisition and physical planning concerns related to ongoing road construction along the project corridor.

Olawal Ojikutu, from the Lagos State Land Bureau, noted that property owners would receive adequate compensation for any structures affected by the project. Biodun Ogunley, the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, reiterated the government's commitment to expanding power infrastructure, aligning with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's vision for a reliable energy supply to drive Lagos's economy by April 2025.
