Malami Faces Theft Allegations Amid Transparency Calls

Lamido has publicly accused Abubakar Malami, the Minister of Justice, of theft, emphasizing the need for transparency among public officials regarding their wealth. He stated that the allegations against him are politically motivated and urged Nigerians to scrutinize the claims made by politicians.

Malami is currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Department of State Services (DSS). The EFCC has filed a motion in the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to seize 57 properties allegedly linked to Malami.

The properties listed include various companies and hotels, such as Rayhaan Bustan Agro and Meethaq Hotel Ltd. Malami has consistently denied the allegations, claiming they are part of a witch hunt by the federal government.

The case highlights ongoing discussions about wealth declaration and accountability among Nigeria's political elite.
