Osun IPAC Faces Leadership Crisis Over Caretaker Committee

The Osun State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) is facing a leadership crisis as several member political parties have rejected a caretaker committee announced by the national leadership. They are demanding the immediate resignation of the National Executive Committee (NEC).

The conflict arose due to the national body's failure to conduct elections to replace the former state executive, which expired in February 2026. At a press conference in Osogbo, representatives from over 10 political parties condemned the caretaker committee as illegal and unconstitutional.

Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), criticized the NEC for abandoning democratic principles and failing to consult stakeholders.

An election was initially scheduled for March 14, but it did not occur due to the absence of officials. The NEC postponed the election without further communication, leading to accusations of bias and incompetence.

The group insists that the IPAC Constitution does not allow for a caretaker committee and demands a credible election.
