Liam Delap Joins Nottingham Forest for £50m Record Fee

Nottingham Forest has completed the signing of Liam Delap from Chelsea for a club-record fee of £50 million, with the striker signing a five-year contract at the City Ground. Delap, 23, leaves Chelsea after just one season, becoming the most expensive player in Forest’s history.

Chelsea made a £20 million profit on Delap, having signed him from Ipswich Town for £30 million the previous summer. Delap expressed enthusiasm about joining Forest, stating the club has a significant history and that he believes manager Oliver Glasner can help him develop further.

Delap had a breakthrough season at Ipswich, scoring 12 Premier League goals during the 2024-25 campaign, despite the team’s relegation. However, his time at Chelsea was less successful, with only three goals in 47 appearances and a drop in shot conversion rate.

Delap also faced challenges due to injuries and Chelsea's playing style, which limited his opportunities to utilize his strengths.
