Falconets Defeat Poland 1-0 in World Cup Warm-Up Match

On August 28, 2023, the Super Falconets of Nigeria achieved a 1-0 victory against the Poland U-20 women's team in an international friendly held at the Municipal Stadium in Brzeg. Mary Mamudu scored the only goal of the match during first-half stoppage time, netting in the 45th minute plus one.

This match served as part of the Falconets' final preparations for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, which will take place in Poland from August 31 to September 22, 2023. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that this was the first of two warm-up matches, with another scheduled against South Korea on September 1.

Nigeria is placed in Group F of the World Cup alongside Spain, China PR, and New Caledonia, aiming to improve upon their previous best finishes as runners-up in 2010 and 2014, having never won the title.
