Hoodlums Disrupt LP-ADC Defection Event in Lagos, Causing Injuries and Property Damage

In Lagos, hoodlums disrupted a defection event jointly organized by the Labour Party (LP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Alimosho Local Government Area. The violent invasion by unidentified hoodlums resulted in injuries to several party members, including sustained wounds and property damage.

The event, initially scheduled to be held at the LP secretariat in Idimu, was marred by chaos as thugs stormed the premises, causing party members to flee. Despite the disruption, party officials quickly relocated the program to an alternative venue, the Eco Event Centre in Egbeda, to continue the ceremony.

The attack was condemned by LP Chairman in Alimosho, Mr. Olanrewaju Olushola, who described it as unprovoked and alarming, especially with the approaching 2023 general elections.

The defection itself had already taken place, with nearly all LP members in Alimosho, including party leadership, agreeing to move to the ADC. The incident highlighted internal leadership challenges within the LP and ongoing legal disputes affecting the party.
