Traditional Ruler Demands Oath for Peace in Guber Poll

Diran Odeyemi, the National Treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), disclosed that the traditional ruler of Ibokun, located in the Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, required politicians to swear a traditional oath to uphold peace during the gubernatorial election held on Saturday. In an interview with THISDAY, Odeyemi noted that the peaceful atmosphere in Ibokun could be attributed to this oath taken by prominent politicians and security agents in both Ibokun and Imesi-Ile towns prior to the election.

He reported that the voting exercise proceeded smoothly, with sensitive materials and officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arriving early at the ten polling units in Ibokun. This initiative reflects a community effort to ensure a peaceful electoral process amidst the heightened political activities.
