NDLEA Destroys Cannabis Farms, Arrests Four in Edo State

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Edo State Command, led by Mitchel Ofoyeju, destroyed two cannabis farms in the Orhionmwon Local Government Area, yielding a total of 1,388.42 kg of cannabis. In the past week, four suspects were arrested for drug trafficking.
Ofoyeju stated that no arrests were made at the farms during the raids. The apprehended suspects include three females: Eniy Osagu (25 years old), Osaretin Erabor (43 years old), and Vivian Chukwuma (38 years old), along with one male, Osigw Omogi (44 years old).
The arrests occurred in separate locations, including behind the Oredo Local Government Area secretariat in Benin City and in the Hausa Quarter Oluku area. The seized exhibits included various quantities of cannabis and other drugs.
The NDLEA Edo State Command is also collaborating with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to conduct school-based prevention programs focused on drug abuse and cultism from May 13 to 15, 2026.
