NDLEA Destroys Cannabis Plantations, Arrests Four in Edo

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Edo State Command destroyed two cannabis plantations in the Orhionmwon Local Government Area, yielding an estimated 1,388.42 kilograms of cannabis. Four suspects were arrested during separate operations conducted across the state within the past week.

Mitchel Ofoyeju, the NDLEA spokesperson, confirmed that no arrests were made during the raid on the plantations as they were unoccupied at the time. The arrested individuals include three females and one male: Eniy Osagu (25), Osaretin Erabor (43), Vivian Chukwuma (38), and Osigw Omogi (44).

Specific details of the arrests include Eniy Osagu apprehended on May 15, 2026, with 272 grams of Scottish Loud, Osaretin Erabor with 914 grams of cannabis sativa, Vivian Chukwuma with 315 grams of Loud, and Osigw Omogi with 113 grams of cannabis sativa. Additionally, the NDLEA collaborated with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to conduct a sensitization program in secondary schools from May 13 to 15, 2026, focusing on anti-cultism and drug abuse.
