NDPHC Initiates Rehabilitation of 225MW Gbarain Power Plant

The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) has officially handed over the 225MW Gbarain Power Plant for rehabilitation. This joint venture includes Tilt Energy Limited and Schneider Electric, who will replace the plant's burnt power control module (PCM).

NDPHC's General Manager, Ginsau Idri, noted that the PCM was destroyed in a fire incident in November 2020, which occurred just months before the plant's inauguration, marking a significant setback for the project. NDPHC's Executive Director General, Abdullahi Kassim, and Managing Director/CEO, Jennif Adighij, expressed confidence in the contractor's ability to complete the rehabilitation within the scheduled timeline of 12 months without compromising quality.

The project is prioritized as it is expected to provide a quick boost to electricity generation, supporting the federal government's plans to enhance nationwide electricity supply. The ceremony concluded with an inspection of ongoing work at the project site.
