NEDC Promotes Electric Mobility Initiative in Taraba State

The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) is advancing electric mobility in Taraba State to enhance transportation, create jobs, and foster sustainable economic growth. This initiative was highlighted during a stakeholders’ sensitisation workshop themed “Powering the North-East: Embracing Electric Mobility for a Cleaner, Smarter and Prosperous Future.” NEDC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Alkali, represented by Taraba State Coordinator Adamu Lawal, stated that electric mobility could tackle transportation issues, boost economic opportunities, and lower environmental pollution.
The initiative aims to deploy electric buses, vehicles, and tricycles, thereby promoting economic efficiency and job creation while supporting carbon emission reduction. The program aligns with the NEDC’s North-East Stabilisation and Development Master Plan.
Bunu Umar Abacha, Managing Director of Atahir Enterprises Nigeria Limited, emphasized the need for an integrated ecosystem to support technology development and improve livelihoods. The workshop aimed to transition from policy discussions to practical strategies tailored to the North-East's unique needs.
