NEDC Launches Forum to Enhance Public Service Delivery

The Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) is working to translate its ISO certifications into improved public service delivery, as stated by Managing Director Mohammed Goni Alkali during the launch of the 2026 Excellence Forum in Maiduguri. The forum targets staff members on Salary Levels 6 to 13 from the commission’s headquarters and state offices.

Alkali emphasized that the success of ISO certifications will be evaluated based on their practical application in daily work. He encouraged participants to voice concerns and grievances, asserting that honest feedback is crucial for identifying challenges and enhancing performance.

The forum adopts a hands-on approach, utilizing simulations and collaborative exercises rather than traditional lectures. Fatima Dalhatu, Acting Head of the Governance, Compliance and Service Reform Unit, noted that the NEDC has secured ISO certification in five management system standards, including Quality Management and Occupational Health and Safety.

She stressed that effective implementation of these standards is essential for delivering quality public services.
