Eseigbe Returns as Nigeria Captain for Kwibuka Tournament

Nigeria's cricket captain Eseigbe has been recalled to the squad for the 2026 Kwibuka tournament, set to take place from June 10 to 20 at Gahanga Cricket Oval in Kigali, Rwanda. Head coach Theophilus Ibodem has included Eseigbe in the final 14-player squad after her absence from the team since August 2025, which was largely due to a dip in form and her engagement in academic pursuits.

Eseigbe will lead a team that includes experienced players such as Lilian Ud and Salom Sundai, with Sarah Etim serving as vice-captain. The squad also features Christabel Chukwuony, Esther Sandi, Omosigho Eguakun, Shola Adekunle, Henrietta Mbam, Jessica Bieni, Deborah Bassei, Oseyend Omonkhobhio, Favour Effiong, and Rachael Samson.

Notable absentees include Lucki Pieti. The team has been preparing at the Nigeria Cricket Federation's high-performance center in Benin City, Edo State, participating in trial matches to assess player fitness and performance ahead of the tournament.

Nigeria will face host Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Brazil, and Malawi in a round-robin format.
