Nigeria to Host ATU Conference on Digital Agenda in 2026

Nigeria's Federal Capital, Abuja, will host the 7th ordinary session of the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) conference from July 23-24, 2026. This conference will gather senior government officials, industry leaders, and academia to engage in strategic dialogue that will influence Africa's digital agenda for the next four years.

The event is recognized as the highest decision-making body of the ATU and is seen as a significant moment in Africa's digital transformation journey. Tijani, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, emphasized the opportunity to strengthen regional ties and attract investment in emerging technologies.

He noted that Nigeria's leadership under President Tinubu aims to build an innovation-driven economy and enhance digital infrastructure. John Omo, the Secretary-General of the ATU, remarked on the importance of the conference in cementing Nigeria's position as a leader in Africa's digital economy and contributing to policies that enhance Africa's global technological and telecommunications ecosystem.
