Nigeria Police Force Launches Leadership Retreat for Reform

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) initiated a strategic leadership retreat for senior officers on Tuesday, March 25, 2023, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja. Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu declared the retreat open, emphasizing its significance in sustaining positive reforms within the police force.

The retreat gathered Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) and Assistant Inspector Generals (AIGs) and is part of an ongoing partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) aimed at transforming the police force. During the sessions, Professor Olu Ogunsakin, Director General of the National Institute of Police Studies, highlighted achievements in police reform, including a complete revision of the national recruitment curriculum and the establishment of a modern rights-based framework.

The retreat will also feature technical sessions on evidence-based budgeting, community policing strategies, and digital transformation, reinforcing the NPF's commitment to becoming a people-oriented institution that prioritizes the rule of law and transparency.
